What to Know About Cock Rings

By Rebecca, 20.05.2019

If you’re reading this article, it is probably safe to assume that you are new to using a C-ring. Don’t worry, because we are going to explain exactly what a cock ring is and how to properly use one.

What Are Cock Rings?

A cock ring is, very simply, a ring that goes around a penis. The ring can be made from a variety of materials like silicone, metal, leather, plastic, or more. It is placed at the base of the penis or around the penis and the testicles.

Why Use a Cock Ring?

The cock ring is meant to restrict blood flow to the penis, which can result in harder and longer-lasting erections. The ring traps blood inside the shaft of the penis, which is why it has this effect. Using a cock ring can reduce performance anxiety and even result in more intense orgasms for all parties involved.

Variety of Cock Rings:

As with most sex toys and sex accessories, there are plenty of options to choose in terms of cock rings or C-rings. Beyond the variations in materials, cock rings can also be textured, include anal stimulators, have built-in vibrators or even has a component that “divides” the penis and testicles. If you’re looking for a more intense experience, you can even purchase cock rings that have an attachment for a leash or an attachment for weights.

If you are new to cock rings, you are going to want to start out with a very simple version and progress from there if you enjoy the sensations. Opt for a flexible cock ring (silicone, rope, Velcro, etc) rather than a solid cock ring (metal, ABS plastic, etc). Flexible C-rings are easier to put on as well as easier to remove quickly if you do not like the sensation. Harder materials like metal are much more difficult (or impossible) to remove with an erection.

If you don’t know what size to use, there are adjustable ones available for purchase.

How to Use a Cock Ring:

A cock ring is placed around the shaft of the penis or around both the testicles and the shaft of the penis. Placing it around both parts will result in more intense stimulation.

It can be a good idea to trim your pubic hair before experimenting with a C-ring to make sure no hair gets tugged during the process.

The penis should be flaccid or mostly flaccid when putting on the cock ring. The penis will become erect after the sex accessory is on. Make sure to add some lube to the inside circumference of the cock ring to make it easier to place.

If you just want the C-ring around the penis, just slide it down to the base of the shaft. As mentioned, this is easier with a flaccid or semi-erect penis and with the help of lubricant.

If you want to have the C-ring around the testicles and the penis, then the testicles are inserted first. Place one testicle at a time through the ring, and once they are both inside, you can insert the penis. It’s just as glamorous as you might think: you fold the penis down and put it through the C-ring. Logically speaking, this is only possible with a flaccid penis.

Once done with the cock ring, you can remove it in the reverse as you put it on. Adding more lubricant can help make the removal process easier.

How To Know If the Cock Ring Fits Properly?

The cock ring is intended to restrict a certain amount of blood flow, but it should not entirely restrict blood flow. It should feel slightly tight like a firm grip.

If there is any pain, numbness, tingling, coldness, discomfort or skim colour-change, it should be removed immediately.

Cock Ring Safety Tips:

Cock rings should not be worn for more than 20 minutes at a time and should never be worn while someone is sleeping.

As with all sex toys and sex accessories, a cock ring should be cleaned before and after every use.

Using a Condom with a Cock Ring:

Using a cock ring with a condom can be a bit tricky because you need to consider how the two will interact. If the cock ring is just around the base of the penis, it might “unroll” the condom. Wearing a cock ring around both the testicles and penis can be a better choice with a condom.

As well, you do not want the cock ring to tear the condom. Opt for softer materials and cock-rings that do not have any snaps, pointed parts, fasteners, or other components that might increase the chances of a condom ripping.

Not everyone enjoys the constrictive sensation of a cock ring so don’t worry if you just can’t get the hang of it. There are plenty of other fun sex things to do! Check out the Dusk TV magazine for a bunch of ideas.
