Top 5 funniest podcasts about sex

For International Podcast Day we wanted to celebrate the podcasts that might not make it to the more G-rated lists. On September 30^th, there will be an international celebration of podcasts, with the goal of connecting with new podcasts, podcast listeners and creators, and overall podcast enthusiasts. For us, that includes podcasts that have something to do with sex! So here are the top five funniest podcasts about sex for your listening enjoyment.

1. My Dad Wrote a Porno

Topping the list with an award-winning podcast that has even been given a one-hour special on HBO… “My Dad Wrote a Porno.” This hilarious podcast started when Jamie Morton (one of the hosts) discovered his father was self-publishing erotic novels. Really terrible erotic novels. So what did Morton decide to do? Create a podcast with two friends (James Cooper and Alice Levine) where they read out each chapter of the erotic novels while then discussing and reacting to them. All three of the hosts add their own humour and quick wit to the episodes. Be prepared to laugh out loud in public.

2. Sex Talk With My Mom

Apparently there is something truly funny about parents being in the know about sex because our second hilarious podcast recommendation is “Sex Talk With My Mom.” KarenLee Poter started a sex advice YouTube show, so of course her son Cam Poter used this as comedic gold. He realized he got the most laughs when joking about his mom’s sex advice channel, so they started a podcast together. Mother and son duo have “the talk” twice a week purely for our entertainment. With episodes titled “I showed my mom my dick clone” and “The most open sex debrief ever,” you should be prepared for awkwardness, laughter, and some real-life sex education.  

3. Guys We Fucked

Comedic duo Krystyna Hutchinson and Corinne Fisher use this podcast to interview guys they have slept with as well as interview famous people in the comedy and sex industry (Stoya, Dan Savage, and more). They also tackle sexual taboos in an incredibly sex-positive and inclusive way. They call it an anti slut-shaming endeavour, and we agree! “Guys We Fucked” is a great podcast to open-your mind, tear down preconceived notions of sex, and have a good laugh. It will feel like you are listening to two of your closest friends unapologetically chatting about sex, and that’s a good thing.

4. Bawdy Storytelling

Bawdy Storytelling has been a live show for almost 12 years, and they have turned the live events into podcasts. Host Dixie De La Tour curates stories from a mix of authors, poets, comedians, actors and regular human folk, into a magical mix of authentic stories of real sex-related adventures. While not all the stories are humorous, there are a share fair of laughs amongst the powerful stories of sex, kink and gender that are insightful and relatable. As a bonus, if you have a story to share, you can apply to be part of one of their live shows.

5. Risk!

RISK! is a live show “where people tell true stories they never thought they’d dare share in public.” The show started in 2009 with host Kevin Allison and producer Michelle Walson, and has turned into an award-winning podcast where people share horrific and hilarious stories that make you feel connected to them as a human. The podcast has also featured some pretty famous celebrities like Sarah Silverman and Andy Borowitz. Yes, expect to laugh a LOT.

Bonus: Swingercast

Swingercast makes the list because while it is not inherently a humour podcast, it is inadvertently funny because of the way the hosts interact with each other. The hosts, Allie and John, tell stories of their swinging lifestyle and they do not leave out any details. From the stuff that went really right to the stuff that went really wrong, their openness provides a great look into the swinger lifestyle (even for those who are monogamous). This podcast is more of a sensual one than the others on the list, so while you might get some laughs, expect to get a little turned on too.
