Forget those extensive sessions at 11 PM when all you actually long for is to hit the pillow. The real gain is to be had in the early hours. Morning sex is the most underrated way to start your day, and it has nothing to do with romance but everything with biology, convenience and a surprisingly good boost of energy.

Waking up with a head start

As the rest of the world is still on their first cup of coffee, you’ve already scored your first win. During sleep, your body produces hormones which make your testosterone levels peak in the morning. This applies to both men and women. Your body is already switched on before your mind even realizes the day has started.

You’re simply better prepared for physical action than after a day full of stimuli, work or other tasks. Think of it as the most natural pre-workout there is, just a lot more fun.

The ultimate stress killer

A morning round provides an instant boost to your system. Your body releases oxytocin and dopamine – chemicals that promote relaxation and a good feeling. You’ll notice it right away. You get up differently: calmer, lighter and with more energy.

Instead of rushing into your day, you start with a moment that completely revolves around you two. That feeling lingers. The traffic jam on the way to work, or that annoying mail from your colleague, suddenly feels less heavy if you’re still basking in the afterglow of what happened before.

The surprise after the sober awakening

This doesn’t just apply to long-term relationships. Especially with a one-night-stand the morning is often the real winner. At night you might have some alcohol or drugs in your system. Alcohol lowers inhibitions, but it also makes clumsier and flatter. Desire can by high on drugs, but your body doesn’t always do what you want and that boner can let you down sometimes.

Everything’s clearer in the morning. Your body does what it’s supposed to do again and you feel more. This often makes morning sex surprisingly better than everything that happened the night before. The morning is often the better-executed do-over.

Admittedly, morning breath isn’t the most sexy part of the story. But that’s no reason to skip the moment either. Anyone who focuses too much on it, misses out on the best sex of the day. You don’t have to dive into each other right away. Start slowly, stay close, and build it up. A sip of water next to your bed is more than enough. And once you’re in the moment, that focus naturally fades into the background.

Morning sex doesn’t have to be a long session. It’s precisely the quick and spontaneous that makes it so effective. It doesn’t take your time; it gives you energy.

That fifteen minutes you normally spend snoozing or scrolling endlessly through your phone can completely change your day. And do you want to combine the practical with the pleasurable? Then hop in the shower together.

Whether you wake up next to your steady partner or someone you’ve only just met, the effect it the same. You carry that feeling with you into your day, without having to do anything else for it.
