Sex in the shower: hot, wet and as intimate as it gets

It’s vacation time. Maybe you’re in a hotel, a holiday cottage or somewhere in a house with just a few too many people. And what if you’re in the mood, but there’s no bed in sight? Then the shower may just be the perfect place to retreat to for some private time. 

And really: the warm water on your clean body, the steam enveloping you both, the fragrance of soap … you get horny even before anyone touches you. And with a few smart tips, it will be just as good as it sounds.

1. Make showering foreplay, not the final destination
Start slowly. Lather, rinse, slowly explore each other under the warm water jet. There’s something magical about skin on skin in an intimate space, with just the sound of water. Don’t go to position 1 right away, but feel, tease and provoke first.

2. Lubricant or smart positioning. Choose what suits you
Water and natural lubrication? Don’t really go well together. When you use lube, go for the silicon-based variant, which doesn’t wash away and keeps doing what it should be doing. If you don’t really like using lube, make sure to turn the water jet away before penetration. Turn it to the wall, or turn your body away slightly. Otherwise it will soon become a rough ride. 

3. Standing is an option, but not necessary
You don’t have to pull any stunts to make things exciting. Leaning against a wall, bending over the edge of the bath, or sitting on the floor (or each other’s lap) can be just as intimate and often much more comfortable. Find out what feels good and stay in contact. Is there a bench? Then it’s party time. 

4. Mind the temperature, not just the heat between you
Water that’s too hot or too cold can be distracting. Adjust the water to a temperature that feels comfortable for both of you. Make sure the shower isn’t too hot. If your session takes longer, you could get a little woozy in the cramped space. 

5. Let it go, literally and figuratively
Sex in the shower is raw, sensuous and different from what you’re used to. It’s about contact, feeling, a moment of being together outside of your regular routine.
