9 Most Romantic Destinations Around the World

By Rebecca, 13.08.2019

After learning how to have better sex while on vacation, we thought it would be appropriate to write about the most romantic destinations around the world!

Of course, there are tons of places that are charming, whimsical or sultry, but we chose these 9 destinations as a starting point for your next vacation planning.

Check out these worldwide destinations and find the one that suits your travel and romance styles! Happy travels!

1. The Maldives

We absolutely have to start this list with The Maldives. This destination is the quintessential romantic vacation. You can stay in your own private paradise on an overwater bungalow, surrounded by clear turquoise water.

You can lie around in hammocks or go snorkelling near your front door, all while having room service bring you the best of the best. Oh yeah, there are white sand beaches too, in case the rest wasn’t enticing enough.

2. Buenos Aires, Argentina

If you prefer to be a little sweatier and grungier on your romantic vacation, then head to Buenos Aires and get ready to tango. At least, get ready to watch a tango dinner-and-a-show if you don’t want to spend the night dancing in this dynamic city.

Head to the area called La Boca for a taste of brightly coloured shops during the day and tango dancing at night.

3. Quebec City, Canada

For a slightly colder adventure, Quebec City is the picture-perfect winter getaway. You can always visit during the warm summer months, but there is something so charming about sitting in front of a fireplace in this French-Canadian city, while it is covered in a fresh layer of snow. There are plenty of activities to keep you warm while exploring this quaint city.

4. Kyoto, Japan

If you are lucky enough to be in Japan during the cherry blossom season, make sure not to skip Kyoto. The city itself is known for its shrines, temples and palaces, but the whole city celebrates Sakura when the cherry blossoms bloom, providing a totally unique and super romantic vacation. The short cycle of the cherry blossoms is intended to be a metaphor for how time is precious, so don’t delay on booking your next romantic getaway!

5. Bruges, Belgium

Narrow cobblestone streets, open squares, quaint homes, galleries, breweries and shops all make Bruges an incredibly romantic destination. Couples can take boat rides through the canals, climb the Belfort’s steps for a view of the city, enjoy the swan-filled ponds, or go for a bike ride around the city. We can’t forget to mention that there is lots and lots of chocolate in this Flemish city.

6. Safari in Botswana

Possibly an unconventional mention on a list of romantic destinations, but we thought it was well worth including a safari in Botswana on the list. There is nothing quite as romantic as a safari adventure. Being surrounded by wild nature and stunning sunsets makes for an interesting and incredibly special vacation – romantic or not – but experiencing that solitude and the starry skies at a luxury safari camp can help make it pretty romantic.

7. Provence, France

Did you think we would put Paris on this list? While Paris is a bucket-list destination, there are some more privately romantic spots in France  – like Provence! Fall in love with rural France by enjoying the lavender-covered fields, the expansive mountains, and the beach of the French Riviera. Enjoy a little countryside magic on your trip. Then head back to Paris for a kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower to round out your romantic vacation!

8. Northern Norway

Speaking of bucket-list romantic destinations, the Northern Lights are high up on many dream destination lists. Stargazing is brought to a whole new level in Northern Norway, which is one of the best places in the world to witness the lights. Head there during the winter months where the darker skies will make the lights easier to see. If you want a totally different experience, head to Northern Norway during the summer months to experience some of the longest hours of daylight.

9. Maui, Hawaii

With lush green valleys and white sand beaches, Maui is a well-known romantic destination for a reason. You can head to the South Shore of Maui to explore some of the island’s best beaches or head to Haleakala National Park and hike to the highest lookout point. On top of that, from December to April you will have a chance of spotting the yearly migration of the humpback whales.
