The Best Drinks for Sexual Wellbeing

By Emmeline Peaches, 11.03.2021

Sometimes we all seek a little libido boost, especially at this time of the year – when the days are still quite dark and we’re much more likely to want to wrap up than strip down. 2020-21 has also been a particularly straining time for relationships, with many of us unable to engage in typical love-boosting activities, such as going out for a dinner date, having a romantic holiday, or engaging in long, romantic walks together.

Thankfully, there is one thing that you can do at any time (and under any circumstances) to boost your libido, and that’s drink.

If your mind went straight to alcohol then you’re not quite on the right track. In fact, alcohol can actually be detrimental to sexual activity and communication. No, instead we’re talking about easy, everyday drinks that you can find or make without much hassle.

What are these libido-boosting beverages, you ask? Let’s take a look…

Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranate juice is incredibly rich in antioxidants, which helps to increase blood flow in the body. The result, when it comes to sex, is an increase of blood to the erogenous zones which increases sexual sensation, stamina, and strength.

In one study using pure pomegranate juice over 50% of individuals also found it helped with erectile dysfunction, meaning pomegranate juice isn’t just a libido booster but could also be a real life saver.

Green Tea

Similar to pomegranate juice, green tea is an antioxidant booster, meaning that it increases your blood flow and your libido follows suit.

Additionally, green tea advocates claim it boosts energy and mood, meaning you’ll have more gusto for sex and more confidence to pursue your desires.

Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented fizzy tea beverage best served cool. Through fermentation, this drink has probiotics which improve your gut health, giving you better bioflora.

If ever you’ve been one who wanted to pursue more sex but just felt like stomach issues or lack of overall health was keeping your libido down, then it’s definitely worth trying out kombucha.

Kombucha also looks similar to an alcoholic beverage, so is a good replacement for alcohol if you’re trying to avoid the bubbly to keep your libido intact.

Coffee

Is this one any surprise?

Coffee is one of the most effective legal stimulants on the market. So much so that it’s often used as a pre-workout by gym bunnies and as part of virus-fighting medication to help the body fight against illness.

A nice cup of coffee is sure to give you that pre-sex boost to keep your alert and aroused throughout.

Besides, who doesn’t love a good brew?

Watermelon Juice

Watermelon is full of lycopene, which is basically nature’s Viagra. This amazing micronutrient relaxes blood vessels and improves circulation to all erogenous zones. As with most fruits, watermelon also has a good amount of antioxidants, doubling up its pre-existing blood-boosting benefits.

Watermelon juice is also a cooling and refreshing drink, as opposed to pomegranate juice, which can be quite sharp at times, making it a good choice when it comes to sex-boosting juices.

Ginger, Apple, Blueberry, and Spinach Smoothie

This smoothie is packed full of libido boosting ingredients…though some assembly might be required.

Ginger increases blood flow while also offering a sense of alertness due to its spicy nature. Spinach is rich in magnesium which is another one of those micronutrients that act as a male Viagra and energy booster. Blueberries are high in flavonoids, which decrease inflammation in the body, helping to treat erectile dysfunction and boost sexual stimulation.

As for the apple? Well, that’s just for an extra bit of flavour, to complement the palette of this particular smoothie.

This one is definitely worth a try and will giv you energy and health benefits that go beyond just the bedroom.

Aaaand, finally…

Water

Anticlimactic? Quite the opposite.

It’s hard to have a healthy sex life if you’re not looking after your health full stop and research has shown that up to 75% of some populations are chronically dehydrated.

Dehydration can lead to low mood, low physical activity, fatigue, poor metabolism and, you guessed it, a decrease in libido.

By making sure that you stay hydrated on a daily basis you are doing one of the most important things that you can to keep your libido boosted and your love life active.

So, whether it’s a smoothie, a juice, or a classic cup of coffee, make sure that you aim to have at least 2 litres of fluids per day as a minimum.

Your love life will thank you for it.
