Interview: Zimra Geurts

This week we’ve asked former Playmate of the World and newbie porna director Zimra Geurts some juicy questions…

How do you feel about the fact that you’re considered to be the sex-bomb of our time? 
On one hand, I feel enormously flattered as it’s definitely a compliment. On the other hand, I find it quite hilarious, because I definitely don’t consider myself to be a sex bomb. I’m not a girly girl kind of type, as I’m often quite awkward. 

What role does sex / female sexuality play in your life? Is it a topic you discuss with your friends?
Sex is certainly a topic that I discuss with my friends and also even quite openly discuss with my mother and sisters. I think it’s important that we, as women, nowadays can talk openly about it. I think it’s a shame that for a lot of women the topic is still a taboo, or that it makes them feel uncomfortable when discussing it with others. Sex is one of the most normal (and let’s not forget, most enjoyable) things in this world. 

Why did you choose to direct your own porna film for Dusk TV?
I deeply enjoy to try new things! I see it as a challenge and am therefore thriving to broaden my horizon. I always try to be as open-minded as possible and love to gain new experiences, because I believe this is good and enriching (especially for your soul). I have to say that porna in particular strongly appealed to me and on the contrary, for example, wouldn’t consider directing a porn movie. I fully support the need for more focus on women in the world of erotic films!

What did you know about porna before you started this project? And what do you think about it now?
I must confess that before I started this project, I didn’t know a lot about porna. Now that I have had a taste of porna, I’m a little upset that I didn’t find out about it earlier! I now notice a big difference between porn and porna. Personally, I absolutely get more aroused by porna films than the average porn movie. 

How often do you watch porna now?
The amount of times I’ve watched porna over the last couple of weeks cannot be seen as an average answer for this question! It has been quite often, because I had to indulge into porna and learn as much as possible for directing my own movie. But I would say that watching porna once a week on a quiet evening with a glass of wine is a very good idea!

What is the best thing you’ve done so far as porna director?
We’re still in a relatively early stage of the project, so the best things have yet to come! But I would say that going through the submissions of the lead roles have been the most fun and interesting part so far. 

How does your ideal porna film look like?
Well, I’m going to try to direct one myself! Naturally, I hope everything goes well and that I can really create something beautiful. My ideal porna film displays good, genuine and passionate chemistry between the performers. There should also be a realistic build-up towards sex, because personally, I can’t stand it if this isn’t the case. With porn I often think “oh, okay, she’s blowing him already.” Or I’m like “right, they have sex right away,” and I find it surprising when the performers have anal sex after the first minute. I think this is one of the reasons a lot of women don’t like porn, because it’s not realistic. As a female viewer you can’t really emphathize with the woman on screen. That’s why I like it when there’s an actual narrative the performers can credibly translate to the screen. This is also what makes me nervous about my own porna film. For me it’s quite important that the performers can act a little, as this isn’t the case in a porno movie. So fingers crossed that we’ll find two people during our casting day, who will nail it.

Would you ever consider playing in a porna film yourself?
NO! Hahahahahaha, and I don’t mean this in a bad way. It’s just that I could never ever do that. Thus, I think it’s incredible that there are people who can, because what would the world be without porn and porna… But no, I’m very private about my own sex life. Having sex with my boyfriend is always super intimate, so I can’t imagine what it would be like if there would be an entire crew of 10 people around us. When it comes to my own film, I really want to do my best in making the performers feel at ease and to give them as much space as possible when filming. By taking a certain distance, it should feel intimate to them which will translate to a natural feeling on screen.

Would you like to direct more porna films?
It has been a very exciting experience so far! But we have no idea how good I really am as a director, hahahahaha. I think it depends on how the project will proceed, if the result is satisfying and if the audience likes it! If the film is a success, then who knows…
