How feeling cold can make you a better lover

By Emmeline Peaches, 29.11.2018

According to most surveys out there, the vast majority of people prefer hot weather over cold – with almost a 2-to-1 ratio in the US.

The same can be said for cold weather and the bedroom too. In fact, in one study it was found that people who had cold feet while trying to engage in sexual activities were far less likely to reach orgasm or have a satisfying experience.

This is all well and good, but one way or another winter is almost among us, which means that a lot of people are going to have to come to terms with the colder weather and how to cope with it…including in the bedroom.

Thankfully, not everyone out there is afraid of the frost, and there are some very good inspirational tips to be taken from those who appreciate a cooler climate. By all accounts, if you learn to embrace the cold, rather than shy away from it, then it might even make you a better (or, at least, more varied) lover.

So, when you’re feeling frosty in the bedroom think about these little titbits and use them to warm up your love life while fighting the chill.

#1 You Don’t Have To Deal With Clamminess and Chafing As Much

If there’s one thing that can be said about cold weather it’s that you’re much less likely to sweat during it.

Even if you do, the sweat is produced during the sex session rather than you coming to the table already feeling like you’re sweating buckets and in dire need of a mop.

This lack of sweat caused by hot weather will leave your skin instead feeling smoother, cooler, and much more pleasant to the touch.

The perfect conditions for an embrace, caress, or firm hand.

Speaking of which…

#2 Cold Weather Increases Sensitivity

When the weather is cold the body tries to warm itself up by bringing blood nearer the surface of the skin, this makes your entire body a bit more sensitive and receptive to touch.

Chilly weather also increases our mental clarity, as our brain kicks in and stays alert while its thermoreceptors try to figure out how to best correct the internal temperature.

All this means that colder environments are great for ‘bracing’ sensation play and particularly engaging impact play sessions.

A flogger feels all the more biting when it meets with cool skin, trust us.

#3 There Are More Accessories To Play With

More layers to strip tease off your partner, more legitimate reasons to bring a scarf in to the bedroom, and generally more fun little improvised items to add in to your usual routine.

When you’re hot, you’re hot, and the minimalist clothing and level of intimacy that you will typically tolerate at such times leaves little to the imagination.

When you’re cold, on the other hand, you already come to the table with a bunch of potential kink gear on, as well as basically carrying your own portable sensation-play kit.

After all, with each stripping down of a layer you get to experience what the temperature is like at that point. Alternatively, you might rip it all off and get the thrilling embrace of the cold straight away.

Either way, cold clothing is much more sex-friendly than people assume.

#4 You Can Make It Even Colder If You Want

Chances are that a cold house isn’t at the coldest it can get. Open up some windows, bring in some ice cubes, or chill a temperature-receptive sex toy and even Jack Frost would be biting his lips at the sexual tension.

The thing about the thrill of the chill is that it only gets better the colder that you go, meaning that there are different degrees of cold that you can easily experiment, especially when the weather outside is acting as your erotic ally in your sexual affairs.

And, finally…

#5 You Can Easily Warm Yourself Up (And It’s Pretty Much The Best Thing Ever)

After a bracing time in the cold there is legitimately nothing better than grabbing a blanket, putting on some hot chocolate, and snuggling up with your partner/s.

Post-play this acts as a wonderful self-care tool for anyone engaged in intense activities, but even the most vanilla of us can appreciate the allure of a hot cocoa from time-to-time.

With hot weather it’s much harder to cool down, and the clamminess and humidity of the heat often lingers in the air.

With cold weather all you need to do to change things up (even mid-sex) is to get under the sheets or (as the study at the start of this article showed) pop on a pair of socks.

So, There You Have It!

You may begrudge the cooler days when doing your daily chores but, for sex, there’s a lot of reasons to relish the colder months.

So, if you’re one of those 2-in-1 who usually prefer it hotter, why not give a little winter lovin’ a try this year? Maybe you can get in the mood by watching one of the porn for women videos in our Winter 2018 Top 5.

And, if you’ve always been on Team Ice, as it were…well, time to continue reaping all the benefits you’re already privy to.
